Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. For a child from Irish heritage surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family, they had innate talents. Maureen joined this wonderful refuge within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen was an athlete at heart and loved playing athletic games. Her naturally-born interest with her ability in performing was astonishing. Her winning of almost all Feis Awards for her home nation's theatre and drama was a testament to the fact that she was a natural performer. When she was fourteen, she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study operatic singing and classical theater.
